Privacy

Private by design: we can’t leak what we never collect

Privacy at Numonym isn’t a setting. It’s the way the service is built: no identity, no email, no trackers — and control over everything we do have to keep.

How we protect you

Three layers of protection

Your identity, your data and your number each have their own safeguards.

  • An account without identity

A random 16-digit account number and a password, with passkeys and 2FA. No email, no phone number, no name.

    How the account works
  • Minimal data, on a timer

Every data point we keep has a reason and an expiry date — and you set the one for your messages.

    What we store
  • A number that stays yours

Grace period, reserved renewal window, quarantine and a SIM-swap lock that support can’t bypass.

    Number continuity

Our commitments

Six things we will never do

Not policies that could change quietly: things the service is built without.

  • Ask for documents. Not at sign-up, not after payment, not ever.
  • Require an email. Not even to recover your account.
  • Track you on this site. No analytics, no ads, no tracking cookies — the only cookie keeps you signed in.
  • Log your IP address. Our web logs don’t contain it.
  • Sell or share your data. No ads, no data brokers, no exceptions.
  • Hand your number to someone else. Support can’t move a number — only you can.

Payments

How private is each way to pay?

Every coin we accept settles the bill the same way. They don’t all reveal the same thing.

Honest limits

What no phone provider can hide

We’d rather tell you than let you find out. These limits apply to every phone number, whoever you rent it from.

  • SMS isn’t encrypted in transit

Carriers can read texts on the way. Use Signal or another encrypted app for sensitive conversations.

  • Carriers see the calls they carry

Who called whom and when passes through the phone network, as on any line.

  • Forwarding shares the message

Telegram, your email provider or your webhook can read what you forward to them.

  • Emergency calls aren’t guaranteed

Keep a regular phone line for emergencies.

Questions

Privacy questions

All questions & answers

Do you ever ask for identity documents?

No — not at sign-up, not after payment, not when you renew and not when you open a ticket. We have no procedure that requires them.

Is SMS private if I use your numbers?

Texts travel through the phone network in the clear, so carriers can read them on the way — on any provider. What we control is what happens after: how long we keep them, who they are forwarded to, and whether they are end-to-end encrypted in your history.

Which payment method is the most private?

Monero: amounts and addresses are hidden on-chain. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and USDT payments are recorded on public blockchains, and an exchange knows who withdrew the funds. Our guides explain how to pay without exposing more than you need.

What happens if authorities ask about my account?

We can only provide what exists: no names, no documents, no IP addresses in our web logs, and message history only if you chose to keep it. Each request is assessed individually and we never provide more than strictly required.
